The United Arab Emirates'' (UAE''s) Federal Tax Authority has issued detailed guidance clearly setting out how family foundations can achieve fiscal transparency under corporate tax law.
The guidance clarifies the new tax regime for entities controlled by family foundations as announced by the UAE Ministry of Finance in November 2024. This reform allowed holding companies and other entities wholly controlled by registered family foundations to elect for treatment as fiscally transparent unincorporated partnerships, with income tax assessed in the hands of the natural person beneficiaries of the parent family foundation.
