Retired Professor Kicked Out by Posterity After Transferring House Ownership to Grandson A few days ago, an old couple surnamed Jin in their 80s in Shanghai, China, were evicted by their son and daughter-in-law after transferring their only property to their grandson. With no choice but to end up out homeless, the elderly can only temporarily lodge at a short-term rental hotel. On Chinese New Year's Eve, they bemoaned, "The house is gone! Our home is gone and our family is gone! " --- what a tragedy to hear!

According to reports by the mainland media, an old retired university professor named Jin (aged 86) in Shanghai, mainland China, worked hard for most of his life so as to get allocated a house by the institution in 1990. He continued to dwell in the same place after retirement. However, because his physical condition continued to deteriorate after a stroke, his son and daughter-in-law persuaded the old man to transfer the house to his grandson on the grounds that it would be troublesome to transfer the property after his death in the future. After the old man agreed to transfer the property, he was unexpectedly betrayed and banished by his grandchildren, which left him feeling down in the dumps.

Retired Professor Jin finally had to spend the rest of his life in the hotel with his wife.

After persuaded by his daughter-in-law to sign the transfer without telling his wife, Professor Jin was told last year that his son was going to sell the house and buy a villa. When a quarrel broke out between the two parties, the grandson filed for reapplication by claiming that he had lost the property certificate. Professor Jin and his wife were banished from their property without warning at the beginning of this year. His son along with his daughter-in-law even secretly changed the locks on the door and shouted with the property certificate in hand, "Your grandson claims that the house belongs to him, so you have no right to live here." This irritated Professor Jin to the point where he was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Although the old couple later moved around between relatives' places temporarily, they do not want to rely on their kinsmen permanently, which, after all, is considered to be the last option to disturb others. Not wanting to let the family scandal go public, they blame their son’s lack of filial obligations on themselves. As a temporary solution, they rented a hotel room and plan to seek justice through legal means. He said frankly, "I don't want to fall out with my son or grandson, but I really can do nothing with it. " Currently the most pressing issue with the old couple is not knowing how long they can lodge in the short-term rental hotel.
