The Australian government has announced a wide-ranging review of the country's payments legislation in 2022. It will include a consultation on a licencing framework for digital currency exchanges, a custody or depository regime for businesses that hold crypto-assets on behalf of consumers and a Board of Taxation report on a new framework for taxing digital transactions and asset.
